Every interview ends the same way: "Do you have any questions for me?"

Most candidates fumble this moment. They ask about vacation days. They ask questions already answered on the website. They say "No, I think you've covered everything."

All of those are missed opportunities.

Why Your Questions Matter

Interviewers evaluate your questions on three levels:

Preparation: Did you research the company and role? Priorities: What do you care about? Thinking: Can you ask insightful questions?

Questions That Impress

About the Role

  • "What does success look like in the first 6 months?"
  • "What's the biggest challenge someone in this role will face?"

About the Team

  • "How does the team handle disagreements?"
  • "What's the typical career path for someone in this role?"

About the Manager

  • "What's your management style?"
  • "How do you give feedback?"

About the Company

  • "I saw that [recent company news]. How does that affect this role?"
  • "What keeps you here?"

Questions to Avoid

  • "What does the company do?" (Shows no research)
  • "How quickly can I get promoted?" (Wrong timing)
  • "No, I think you've covered everything." (Always have questions)

The Meta-Question

Here's a question that works in almost any interview:

"What haven't I asked that I should have?"

This shows humility and genuine curiosity.
